This includes my 'stretch' states...ones I've only been in briefly, riding through or airports or day trips. (ie Idaho, Montana, Conneticut, New Hampshire, Vermont, Oklahoma, Kentucky, North Carolina, and Maryland (I think))
Anyways, the point of interest in this week that will interest you all is who I saw in the Syracuse airport waiting to get on the same plane as me. Fonzie!! Our flight was delayed because of thunderstorms, so everyone was sitting/standing around rather bored. I was sitting right by the desk, and I turned around when I heard someone call out something, and saw this man at the counter that looked soooo familiar...after racking my brain I was pretty sure that it was the guy who used to play Fonzie on Happy Days...could remember his name for the life of me though. This was further confirmed when we got to Detroit and I saw him heading for a flight to LA. Anyways, got home and pulled up photos on the 'net and I'm 99% sure it was him. Anyways, randomness abounds and I'm rambling now, so I shall shut it O:-)
This morning my 8 year old cousin was over for a couple hours while my aunt was at pilates. Last week they found out that their grandmother (on their dad's side - no direct relation to me) has bladder cancer pretty bad. (apparently she never goes to the doctor...) Anyways, so this morning Joe ask me if I knew his grandma was in the hospital, and I said yes. He then says "Yeah, she has pee cancer..." he then goes on to talk about fairly specific treatment steps and using the doctors' names. He is one strange little kid....he also pulled up some series on youtube that he finds hilarious and I just thought was dumb...
So I though you all might enjoy that, perhaps when someone we know is going through cancer treatments, we can comfort them that they don't have pee cancer!
**On another note, I'm amused by the Twins radio guys... They shorten the Padres to Pads, and it comes out sounding like Pods...so instead of playing priests we're actually playing pod people!!! Anyways, Go Twins!

I'm giddy with excitement from my day so far! First, I had a 30 minute hot stone massage - courtesy of my brother's birthday present, so all I paid was tip.... Then I wander into Pennies before I leave the mall, thought I'd check on this coat I'd seen last month and see if they still had any, and what price. So they had them still - only $30!! It's light brown suede with fuzzy fur-like stuff for lining (including a lined hood! So warm and snuggly! Then I come across dockers for $5, a cute christmas shirt for a buck, socks for a buck, and then my big score - fuck me boots (that actually fit my calves) for $20!!!!!!!!! Wow, I'm still excited. In total I got nearly $400 worth of stuff for about $60. Squeeage galore!
So I've seen a few things lately on this Ron Paul guy...hadn't really heard about him previously (not that I'm following the race very closely, especially on the republican side), but now every time I hear or see mention of him what pops into my mind? Rue Paul. Yeah, has this happened to anyone else? And can we note the irony in the comparison? hmmm...that'd be the day - when Rue Paul went for the republican nomination!
So who's weird? Me or them? Since I don't have poll capabilities, I'll do it the old fashioned way:

__ ?? What is that!?
Thanks :)
ok, I've finished now, life can return to normal...
So last night was, shall we say, special
The first girl at my register was literally screaming and crying while I got her change....and then an hour and a half of the most breakneck registering I have ever experienced....and this is after two Christmas seasons...I had my wand out so I could add blinding menace to my glare if anyone dared to be a pain and do something like write a check....but I restrained myself, even though I think it is concensus that I got the two worst sales of the night....first the lady who had us stash a basket and a half of clearance stuff at the registers to ring up with her book....she left with four shopping bags full....then the lady who wanted a tax exempt but didn't tell me till I handed her the reciept, and at 1am my brain wasn't really up to remembering anything other than scan book, member card, swipe card/get change, hand book over.....I did have fun teasing
Anyways, its all over now finally, now just for several weeks of crazy sales probably, and of course taking bets on how many people each day ask us if its in paperback and how long they'll have to wait for said paperback... *rollseyes* they never learn...
The party was interesting....particularly to compare with Tattered's two years ago....I was curious to see the differences between working and being a guest, independent vs. chain, etc... I'm certainly not likely to see anything quite like them ever again...
But yes, now I'm exhausted....was 2:30 when I got home and my mom was still kinda wound up (she worked the party as a volunteer), so she wanted to rehash...and of course I had to explain the extent of the messes we found when we surveyed the store after she left (I lost 5 shelves in my section alone....though granted my section is where they were lining up all evening!), so it was after 3 when I went to bed, and then I woke up at 6:30 to my dad walking in the rocks outside my window, and was too wired to go back to sleep, so I started reading....I'm now exhausted and could probably sleep for a week, but at least I'm done and there can be no spoilerage for me at work tomorrow!! (cause you know there will be)
ok, time for dinner, then being a zombie/listening to the Twins kick the Angels' butts hopefully, then sleeeeeeeeeeeep!! Happy reading to all who still have some ahead of them! :)
....and now the question is what the hell do you read after this!? all my fluffy piles of chick lit are definatly out to start, but how much do I feed the Harry-esque trend? Have been kinda wanting to read Les Mis again lately, but I don't know if that's a bit tooo much....or I've got some nice happy Kite Runner or holocaust era stuff....meh....maybe I'll just bring sudoku to work for a couple days...

exhausted
I'd just like to start by saying I love having a job with benefits!! I'm being paid to stay home and be a bum today - plus I got time and a half for working on Monday, so in total I'm getting paid for 44 hours of work this week while only actually putting in 32 hours of effort! I'm not sure what kind of sign that is that this is what I get excited about in my job (that and of course the HP party coming up, although it'll be crazy as well as fun)
Anyways, thought I'd take some time now that I have some to do a quick recap of my trip, for anyone who is interested or bored :)
For those who don't know, we went on a 7 night cruise in Hawaii on the Pride of America. We being me, the parentals and the brother.
So yeah, it was fun, now I've been adjusting to having to work again and all that fun, but c'est la vie.
Aloha!
Anyways, now to the fun:
Take five books off your bookshelf.
Book #1 -- first sentence
Book #2 -- last sentence on page fifty
Book #3 -- second sentence on page one hundred
Book #4 -- next to the last sentence on page one hundred fifty
Book #5 -- final sentence of the book
Make the five sentences into a paragraph:
"That's America!" Kirsten said happily. She is a member of the museum and an alumna of Roosevelt University. The Swedish Chef informs me that "yoo kneedee de doogh tu razee de doogh!" I shrugged and continued down the path at a leisurely pace. Let's cross over.
Book #1 Meet Kirsten (American Girls)
Book #2 Time Traveler's Wife (Audrey Niffenegger)
Book #3 Before You Leap (Kermit the Frog)
Book #4 Sex, Murder and a Double Latte (Kyra Davis)
Book #5 Eat, Pray, Love (Elizabeth Gilbert)
And round 2 (cause I feel like it):
Once upon a time, a young man was given a special but unusual set of gifts: a fuzzy mop of cherry-red fur, crowned with two enormous eyes, which sat high atop an orange egg of a nose that resembled, well, an orange egg. Probably the biggest mural you'll ever see, it's also one of the funniest, picturing hundreds of pigs running through open fields. I buy a paddling pool, and a box of building blocks and a huge teddy and just sling them all on top of the pram. It is a direct reference to the belief that Harry is carrying something less than human inside him. You are now one of us.
Book #1 My Life as a Furry Red Monster (Kevin Clash aka Elmo)
Book #2 Hidden Southern California (Ray Reigert)
Book #3 Shopaholic and Baby (Sophie Kinsella - Advanced Reader edition)
Book #4 What Will Happen in Harry Potter 7? (Mugglenet.com)
Book #5 How to be a Canadian (Will and Ian Ferguson)
So I guess fist of all I can announce that I now have my very own car! Mom's new car was picked up yesterday, so I can take full claim to the old one...I offically claimed it last night by putting my SLU alumni sticker in the window O:-) Mom got her pretty new Camry hybrid and thankfully the color is v. nice (she ordered the green one, but we'd never see the color off the screen and my uncle in AZ had made a comment about it being lime-y green...its not) Granted, today Mom still took my car because who in their right mind would take a brand new car out in a blizzard with crazy drivers when they don't have to?? Its ok, I didn't really want to drive to work in these conditions anyways.
Second announcement: We're going to HAWAII!!! yay fun times....the parents decided they wanted to go somewhere again...was between Ireland and Hawaii...I think its hard to talk yourself away from the tropical destination however when its this yucky out...So we're going in May and taking one of the Norwegian cruises that goes to 4 islands and is 7 days, looks like a great way to see alot! :) I can even try surfing lessons if I want to ;) So now of course I'm in the big push to finish my WW journey, get to goal and probably beyond and get good and toned and set up with a yummy new wardrobe for the trip!! (I would like to take this opportunity to thank the US Government for letting me have all my tax money back as it will be funding this venture...) I only have 2 pounds to go to my official goal, but I'm still kinda squidgy around the middle, so I'll probably aim for another 5 lbs or so before I stop.
Hmmm, yeah so those are the big excitements up here...otherwise I'm doing lots of working, hanging out with the mice in the computer section (at least everyone likes my new mascot better than the old one! [See, the old computer/business lead had made an infamous map of the computer section that featured Kirstie Alley as the 'mascot', so when I took over and redid the section, I made a new map and had to pick a new mascot....so I picked a mouse...since I have several that like to hang out in my section and its a nice double entendre type thing] yeah, long story) Then I spend the rest of my time hanging out or working on the Creative Memories stuff...hope to earn enough to buy an ipod before the trip (I know, I'm giving in, but it hold sooo much more than my player and its SHINY!) And now we're having fun watching the snow....probably about 8-12 inches so far today, expecting about 6 more by morning, and this is on top of the nearly foot we got last weekend! I know its not NNY standards exactly, but its still a bigger storm than we've seen in years, and anything that gets compared to the Halloween Blizzard you know has to be big! The store even closed 8 1/2 hours early today - the whole mall did actually, was interesting to see.
Ok, so I'm just rambling at this point and applause to anyone who actually read and attempted to comprehend all that... I'm v. tired so I think I'll start to head towards bed. Night all!
